    Chihuahua, Mexico (MMCU)

There is an important issue going on in Chihuahua, Mexico (MMCU) that we wish to alert pilots to.

Construction is underway at the airport and there is no room for aircraft to park. There has been some information circulating that it is for 48 hours, the reality is that it will be for probably 2 weeks until ramp space is once again available. In the meantime:
    • Don't plan to overnight in MMCU
    • Don't file MMCU as an alternate on your flight plan

Separately, for issues very specific to Mexican Customs in MMCU, DO NOT plan to make an international arrival at MMCU unless you use a handler. There have been a number of incidents with arrivals of General Aviation aircraft at MMCU. If you want the gory details, let me know separately but this is the bottom line.

If you wish to fly to MMCU and self-handle, then we recommend that you make your international arrival at another Mexican international airport and then transition to MMCU as a domestic flight.
