02-11-2023, 05:43 PM #1Turbulence and speed
Hi Folks!
So, flying along at FL280, at perhaps 260KIAS or whatever M.
on encountering moderate turbulence, besides slowing down, are you aiming for a particular speed?
Somewhere, buried in the reading it said max speed for turbulence 230kts.
However, Vo is listed as186.
Anyone with unfortunate experience in bad turbulence in this aircraft? How bad does it feel vs how bad it really is?
They had advisories (sigmet) for severe turbulence last week. I did not encounter any at all, but it did make me wonder as to what to expect.
I can only share my experience with formal gf and I said goodbye to her and it won’t help on this forum. -

02-12-2023, 10:25 PM #2Fly above the turbulence! I feel like we don’t get much bad turbulence in the 100. Often we are a few thousand feet above where the airlines are complaining about bad rides. I haven’t had more than light turbulence at high altitude cruise. If you can get to the tropopause, the atmospheric stability will dampen or entirely eliminate the turbulence in just a few thousand feet.
My wife says she experiences far less turbulence than flying commercial.
