Friend of my is buying a Phenom 100 and is asking for if the lavatory curtain can be replaced to the door. Has anyone done this? Cost estimate?

That's a lot of weight to add for a plane that is payload limited. It can be done - Jeff Schlueter or Carolina can give you an estimate.

(Username Protected) is valid in mentioning the payload concern as this option adds 21 lbs. Something to consider, but not a huge weight increase.

For 2009-2011 models (S/N 00005 – 00239) it is Service Bulletin SB500-00-0006 – Rigid lavatory door – after market modification, and I was quoted $56k with a 6-8 month lead time for engineering & parts procurement, and then 40 hours of installation. We kept the curtain.

The bigger issue other than the weight is that you will lose the back seats being able to be reclined. While it is a small recline, it is much more comfortable with the recline. My overall recommendation, unless you plan on using the lav frequently is to keep the curtain.

My concern is less the 21 pounds than it would be in having passengers close that door the entire time inflight. The cabin noise from the wall coil would be reduced, but the cabin zone T-stat is located where that wall coil is. This could result in the cabin selected temp being skewed.
