My right side starter/generator, which was just replaced about a year ago/100 hrs ago, is generating a crazy amount of soot. I didn't clean for several flights to see how much it would build up...

When I dropped the plane of for the my 108mo service the mechanic said some generators are worse than others, but that it doesn't imply the brushes are wearing out or imminent failure.

What has been your experience?
