GoGo Inflight Internet

This page is a chapter in Modifications and Enhancements
GoGo offers two AVANCE systems, L3 (3G like speeds) and L5 (4G like speeds). L3 is available for both the Phenom 100 and 300 as retrofits or at built time, while L5 is only available for the Phenom 300.

  • L3 Core
    • Max 5 devices
    • "Light Internet Use"
    • MRSP $40k + Install. The average price of four quotes was $99k installed.
    • Unlimited data is $99/hr

  • L3 Plus
    • Max 7 devices
    • MSRP $52k + Install. The average price of four quotes was $111k installed.
    • Unlimited data $4,095/mo

  • L3 Max
    • Max 25 devices
    • MSRP $68k + Install. The average price of four quotes was $127k installed.
    • Unlimited data $4,095/mo

  • L5
    • Max 40 devices
    • MSRP for hardware is $133k + Install. The average price of four quotes was $180k installed.
    • Unlimited data $4,345/mo
  • Based on Gogo's Head to Head comparisons, L5 bandwidth is roughly 50-80% greater than L3, allowing for faster browsing and smoother conference calls. Either way they are not blazingly fast - downloading a 30MB files takes 1:11 with L5 and 1:52 with L3.
  • For me only the unlimited plans make sense, as on the other plans you pay $0.3 - $1.8 per MB depending on plan and are churning through megabytes like crazy. The average webpage these days is 2MB, and Facetime calls use about 3MB/min.
  • Streaming video is not supported on the unlimited plans. However an average hour of Netflix is 1-3GB depending on quality, so you would be looking at ~$1000/hr on the per MB plans.Insane. A much better option if you want streaming entertainment is to enable to GoGo Vision plan, which offers unlimited blockbuster movies and tv shows cached locallly on the Advance system for $895/mo.
  • For new customers with no previous GoGo system onboard, GoGo is currently offering a $12k rebate on L3 and a $25k rebate on L5.
  • For customers with a classic GoGo ATG system, GoGo is currently offering on L3 a $25k installation rebate and on L5 either a $40k installation rebate OR a free GoGo X3 LRU for GoGo's upcoming 5G network (see below).
  • For Advance L3/L5 systems, GoGo recently lowered the service altitude to 3000ft.
  • L5 is upgradable to GoGo's 5G network - which is expected to launch in late 2021 - but will require a supplemental box (X3 LRU) and new antennas (MB13). The X3 system pricing will have an MSRP of $92,98.
    • If you already have an older ATG system installed, GoGo is currently running a promotion where if you buy L5 now they will give you the X3 LRU for free ($51k value). You still need to pay for the new antennas and installation.
    • For customers with L5 already installed, GoGo will "will announce a future promotion for loyal Gogo customers who have already installed an AVANCE L5 and would like to connect to the 5G network"
