Taws a vs taws b
Hi all
What is the difference between TAWS A and TAWS B?
I have TAWS B installed in the Phenom 100.
However, I also have a TAWS A unlock SD card with me that came with the aircraft.
Before I go messing around and changing things, thought maybe someone here can point out? -

I don’t recall this being as needing a subscription. It’s a one time “unlock card” to upgrade to the Taws A. It’s much better than TB. You’re best to call an avionics shop instead of Garmin directly as the shop I believe would need to do everything for this. Or call Embraer support center.

03-19-2024, 05:50 PM #8You can tell which version is enabled by the name of your TAWS map page. When you go to the TAWS map it will be titled either MAP TAWS-A or MAP TAWS-B.
fwiw, another telltale while flying is that TAWS-B gives only a single altitude callout at 500ft. TAWS-A gives callouts at 500-100 and then 40-10 (unless that option is disabled - it's in the pilot profile settings).
