ANAC last week published a Special Airworthiness Bulletin to provide information regarding the Embraer EMB-500 ice protection system and to alert owners and operators about the importance of proper adherence to the standard operating procedures established by the airplane manufacturer.

The key takeaway: The ice protection system MUST NOT be turned off in approach and landings if it is not possible to be sure that all ice accretion in the airplane is removed, as in the accidents described in this BEA.
