    MyTechCare Portal new authentication process (argh!)

    Got an email from Embraer that myTechCare now requires two-factor authentication (good for security) but the way they implemented is a pain. Instead of using a standardized OTP that integrate with 1Password, LastPass etc they use a propriety app from RSA to validate each sign-in.

    To create a 2FA

    1) Go to https://embraer-comercial.auth.securid.com/mypage (why the link isn't clickable in the above PDF is a head scratcher...)

    2) On field labeled "Email Address" DO NOT USE YOUR EMAIL, rather use your [email protected] - for example if you normal myTechCare login is phenompilots use [email protected]

    3) Download the RSA SecureID Authenticate

    4) Scan the QR code from the website.

    To Login at myTechCare

    Login at https://www.techcare.embraer.com/
    Then login again on the next page.
    Then approve the login on your phone

    Done!

    It also is affecting the service centers. Elliott was unable to get in to the system in a timely manner so I had to order the parts I needed after I figured this out. Hopefully, everyone gets setup through it without delay.

    This is a total debacle. Can't sign in at all. Makes it a little hard to upload AHEAD data.

    I'm trying to get this to work, but keep getting Unsuccessful Registration when I try to scan in the QR code after logging in. All the data is correct (including the misspelled word "comercial"). Guess it's off to the tech support queue.

    Were you able to resolve it just by following the instructions or was there something else you figured out? I am stuck on the 2FA QR Code part and am waiting on Embraer Tech Support to figure it out.

    It worked first try for me, following the guide. Note that you can use it only in ONE location per Embraer. Windows 10 (no (Username Protected)), OR a PED (phone / tablet).

    OK thank you, that helped me in the right direction. If you sign up for 2FA on a PC you CAN NOT use the iOS app to scan the QR code, you have to download the PC application and use that. Then you can login using your @embraer.tech email address. Then you have to login again on something called Access Manager and the only way to login there is to NOT use the @embraer.tech part of the email address and just your old username.

    Well done Embraer, you've managed to mangle something we've already solved for like 10 years ago. exactly what is the 2FA solving for? Was someone going to hack my account and pay my bill?

    What a complete pain and waste of time. Did anyone notice that you are now restricted to using Mytechcare on one device? You have to deauthorize one device before you can log on with another.

    So say you're traveling with your laptop or your phone, and have an AOG, you can't access the tech docs from your laptop without going through this painful process again. I have 3 offices each with a desktop, one laptop and an iPad. The only way I can access Mytechcare now is from my home computer. Useless when I'm traveling.

    This 2FA solved nothing and has created a huge ongoing problem.

    Guess what’s even worse? Trying to open the Tech Care app in-flight and it wants to authenticate through the RSA app they make you install in your phone or iPad, but you either don’t have internet or it’s not working well. Yes, this has already happened to me. Who in their right mind designed it to work that way?

    Is Techcare sign in working for anyone? I seem to get server error screens (or blank white screens) after going through the 2FA process. I've tried both the token and email methods, and always end up with something like this:

    (Username Protected) I got that same thing a couple of days ago. After a couple more tries 10 min later, it finally told me that it was time to change my password. I ended up remembering it had done the same thing the last time my password had expired.

    (Username Protected) - I ran into something similar last week; the fix was clearing the cache & history on my computer -- that after Embraer tried to reset my login a couple different times.

    I saw this very early on with 2FA with them, but I've not seen this page in a long time. I did have some different timeout problems with the site just yesterday, so they probably are having some kind of issues.

    A 504 is almost certainly a problem on their side, though it's possible they could intentionally send that to you if they think you (or your IP address) is a suspected attacker or abuser. If you get the same behavior when using private browsing and on a different IP (e.g., on cellular instead of wifi), there's not much you'll be able to do about it, since the problem is with their servers.

    I had this problem last week and decided to try "code by email" for 2FA and it worked - I received an email with a code, entered it, and was granted access without involving the RSA app. It's worked several times since then, too.

    More 2FA problems. Looks like their login is down again and I'm in a constant loop of having to update my password to then tell me Authentication Failed. Seriously, I have no hope of them ever figuring out how to make our brakes work well if they can't even implement 2FA correctly.

    (Username Protected), it works fine for me (multiple times this morning). Are you using the 'send code to my email' option? I find that works well so I haven't even used the other method for quite some time.

    At this point I only use the 'send code by email' option. I agree that it works better than the phone option.
